Group Introduction
An arts and human rights organization dedicated to reinterpreting the painful histories of conflict-affected regions through the lens of intangible cultural heritage
Embodying Reconciliation safeguards intangible cultural heritage in Colombia’s
conflict-affected regions as a living social practice rather than a static record. Through
dance, rituals, and oral traditions, the organization uses the body as a medium of memory
and education, while fostering community-led governance and transmission systems that
contribute to peacebuilding, social healing, and cultural sustainability.
Major Activities
Transmission and Educational Activities
Facilitating intergenerational transmission through long-term community-based cohorts and
arts education programs, while safeguarding and transmitting intangible cultural heritage
through experiential and participatory methodologies.
Heritage Promotion and Awareness-Raising Activities Expanding the social value and visibility of cultural heritage through public platforms such as the Festival Movimiento y Patrimonios Vivos (Movement and Living Heritage Festival), fostering broader public engagement and appreciation.
Local and International Cooperation Activities Building collaborative response mechanisms and knowledge-sharing networks for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage through partnerships among multiple local governments and international cultural exchange initiatives.
Ethical Safeguarding and Management Systems Implementing systems for the ethical management and protection of cultural heritage sovereignty through the use of Traditional Knowledge (TK) Labels, community-based digital inventories, and archival documentation practices.
